ALDE Party hosts Presidential hand-over reception - Hoofdinhoud
Many organisations and institutions in Brussels host their New Year receptions in January to officially start the year. The ALDE Party hosted on Wednesday 27 January 2016 a reception to officially mark the hand-over between former ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson to current President Hans van Baalen MEP, who was elected in November 2015 at the ALDE Party Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
During the reception, firstly Hans van Baalen expressed his grattitude to the former President for his great work leading the party.
Van Baalen also stressed the importance of Sir Graham Watson's task of supporting his home country to stay in the European Union, ahead of the United Kingdom EU membership referendum. As a matter of fact, Sir Graham Watson decided not to seek re-election mostly due to the possibility of a Brexit.
