ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen MEP supports the new Moldovan Government composed of Liberals, Democrats and Social-Democrats which has received broad support in the Moldovan Parliament.

“I call upon all democratic parties in the Moldovan Parliament to unite to elect a new State President before March 22 and thereby prevent the Moldovan Parliament from being dissolved and new elections called.

This would seriously block the implementation of the reform programme by the new Government and give pro-Putin forces, which are heavily subsidised by Russia, an opportunity to make Moldova a Moscow proxy.”

“At the same time, the ALDE Party urges the new government to assume responsibility to implement the much needed reforms and push the fight against corruption. The people of Moldova demand and deserve change,” he said.

Furthermore, ALDE strongly condemns the recent harassment of liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu, current Education Minister Corina Fusu, and Alina Zotea MP by political hooligans.
