ALDE CoR recognises outstanding work of local and regional politicians - Hoofdinhoud
On Tuesday, the ALDE group in the European Committee of the Regions hosted the ALDE Local and Regional Politicians Awards (LeaDeR) reception. This is the fifth time that the ALDE group in the Committee of the Regions organised these awards, which aim to recognise the work of outstanding local and regional liberal and democrat politicians and foster best practice at sub-national level.
In total, 35 shortlisted candidates had been selected from ALDE and EDP member parties for 7 different categories of awards.
The reception was attended by finalists, members of the ALDE-CoR group and MEPs. It was an excellent opportunity to network, meet with other European liberal politicians and support finalists!
ALDE-CoR President Bas Verkerk and ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen honoured the winners:
Young European of the Year: Marine Caron (France - UDI Jeunes)
Most effective EU Ambassador: Vedrana Gujic (Croatia - LYMEC)
Best Elections Campaign: Andrej Poropat (Croatia - HNS)
Achievement in interaction with citizens via Digital Communication: Sandor Vekas (Hungary - Hungarian Liberal Party)
Achievement in Opposition: Ignacio Aguado (Spain - Ciudadanos)
Achievement in Government: Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman (Germany - FDP)
Lifetime Achievement award: Suzanne Fletcher (United Kingdom - Liberal Democrats)
A special award was recognised by President Bas Verkerk to Galina Shirshina (Yabloko) from Russia.
